See, this is what we mean about nostalgia, look back through rose-coloured spectacles (or even neon houndstooth spectacles) and make it fresher, funner, bigger and brighter. Plaid, boatnecks (ok the necks are a bit 50s), houndstooth checks, little strappy boots (I saved my babysitting money for months for boots like that), neon colours, slogan tees and slouchy pocket dresses, and a bit of the boho-tech stuff in there too – cute, Pepsi and Shirley, Bananarama fun.
