Puffballs, tiered and balloon shaped skirts. Lots of ruffles, frills and rouched poms poms, polka dots, stripes and ombre all make for a kind of showgirl, meets ballerina meets high wire walker meets pierrot, kind of look at PPQ. Take a look you’ll know what I mean. Lily Allen and the Geldof sisters were in the audience. It’s fun, its fresh, its young.
VogueUK have Paul Smith’s show down as a story about a 1940s vamp who just can’t control her libido – and we’re inclined to agree. Lots of just dragged through the haystack, shirts falling off the shoulders, cardis showing the midriff looks. We love the tea-dresses with a twist. Now mark our words there are models wearing plant pot and beehive shaped hats in there and for next season, make sure your slip is showing!!
Lots of stories at Amanda Wakeley, stongly tailored black and monochromatic looks, with boat necks and belted waists, fading into shades of grey in tight body hugging shimmering dresses, fading to structured gowns in grey and black then to palest grey and white ombre in romantic floaty fabrics and finally wham bam gowns in the brightest jewel greens with studded embellishments. Keep last years long gloves!!
