Chandelier earrings are probably the statement jewellery piece of the season. They’ve adorned the catwalks and red carpets, the big and small screens and there’s no sign that they’re going away. So maybe it’s time to pop the diamond studs awayand try something different. Earrings have definately got bigger, whether worn to add elegance by night or bohemian glamour by day.
We’ve been rounding up a few guidelines for wearing chandliers and we’re told…
Keep them shorter than the neck. If they’re touching your shoulders, when you’re standing, they’ll be dangling into your soup by the time you sit down for dinner!
If you’re wearing your hair up, or have a shorter hair style wear a smaller, shorter chandelier. However if you’re wearing them tousled up in long locks then you can go for the longer, wider styles.
If your face is broader, or rounder, go for a style that narrows at the bottom.
Crystals and diamonds are more suitable for evening looks, while coloured gemstones are better suited to daytime.
At TFG we thought that some of the styles get way too big, (not to mention dangerous) and went on the hunt for some elegant alternatives. We liked Kate Moss’ style (pictured above centre), and used this as our starting point. What we came up with was these classic, Elizabeth Taylor chandeliers (pictured above left) at Compton and Woodhouse, they’re a little shorter, so could be worn with any hair style. We like the way they narrow at the bottom so that they’ll lengthen and slim the face and the Swarovski crystals are perfect to wear with any evening look (although they’d look especially nice with bare shoulders).
And finally, if chandeliers just aren’t your thing, the Noemi Teardrops (pictured above right), also from Compton and Woodhouse, offer a slightly more subtle look, while still offering length and glamour.
