We know that 1920s Flapper Chic is set to become a big fashion story over the next few months and this can already be seen making it’s way into the evening looks this party season. Beaded or tiered flapper style dresses are appearing in the ‘new arrivals’ section of many on-line stores. We’ve scouted around and found this little selection from the high street – click on the image to see the stockist. We like the way that Emma Watson and Kate Moss have kept the look simple by adding just a touch of 1920s style accessorising – the low-bar shoe or the long necklace. It could be tempting to go the whole hog and look like you’re about to enter a fancy dress competition. Steer clear of the old long-handled cigarette holder!!

Party Dress Alternative
Category : Accessories, Christmas, Latest, Trends, Winter, Women
If you don’t fancy a party dress this christmas you could try a tux instead. Even though it’s a masculine look try femming it up with a frilled blouse (wear it open – check out Kate Moss in our Jaeger story), killer heels, jewellery, clutch bag etc. etc. If you don’t fancy the trouser suit throw the tux jacket over a pretty party dress or a high waisted skirt.

Little Black Dresses

The LBD is always a good party option, this year try some traditional glamour with a dress like these from Coast, add Hollywood heels and crytals or diamonds.
Or go for a new twist with something a little punkier, like these dresses from TopShop. Punk up even more with spikey heeled shoes or ankle boots, strong jewellery or studded accessories. Cover your shoulders with a biker jacket or tuxedo.

I saw the lovely limited edition Lee Miller Olympus trip camera in a magazine and thought I would go and browse through the V&A Shop website for more presents for fashion lovers. I have included a few here but link to the shop for a whole range of unusual, thoughtful and different gifts for friends and family this year.

The Little dictionary of fashion is full of timeless tips from Christian Dior
Fashion lovers will love to read more about Ossie Clarke, particularly as the label is set to be relaunched by Marc Worth during London fashion week in February 2008. The book includes interviews with Ossie Clarke’s wife, designer Celia Birtwell, who will also be well known to fashion lovers.
And finally, I just thought I’d check out the price of Vogue Covers at Amazon – A very reasonable £24.99.
