Louis Vuitton – Three Astronauts and the 'Icare' Travel Bag.

Three famous astronauts – Buzz Aldrin, Sally Ride and Jim Lovell star in a series of  adverts, shot by celebrity photographer, Annie Liebovitz for luxury bag company Louis Vuitton.

The will be seen in a series of promotions promoting the ‘Icare’ travel bag ‘Icare’ travel bag  named after Icarus, the hero of Greek mythology who died falling when he flew too close to the sun and the wax holding his man made feathered wings melted, which retails at £910 which is due for launch July 2.

In the video the space travellers sit talking about how space changed their lives;  Aldrin walked on the moon in 1969 as a member of the Apollo 11 mission and the new campaign marks the 40th anniversary of that historic occasion.

In what has been quoted as :-

“An homage to these great travellers.”

The new space journeys advert follows on from recent campaigns that have starred Mikhail Gorbachev, Catherine Deneuve, Keith Richards, Scarlett Johansson and Madonna.

The name Terry de Havilland may not be as well known as Manolo Blahnik but he has been making shoes since the 1950’s his fine footwear can be seen adorning the feet off celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Amy Winehouse.

He has just opened up a couture shoe service where you can walk in, discuss what you want and get them made to order.

Christian Lacroix Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Christian Lacroix “has filed a voluntary petition with the Tribunal de Commerce de Paris to put itself under the protection of the courts,” but it intends “to present a continuation plan” and “to maintain its business operations throughout the proceedings.”

It has launched bankruptcy proceedings due to the sharp decline of the luxury industry driven by the global economic recession, founded in 1987, Christian Lacroix, known for its colorful gowns, was acquired from Paris-based luxury group LVMH in 2005 by U.S. duty free giant Falic.

With 125 employees, the company registered loss of 10 million euros (about 13.86 million U.S. dollars) last year for a turnover of 30 million euros, and sales of 2009/2010 winter collection show in March fell 35 percent.

Frida Gianni launched the autumn 2009 look for Gucci’s read-to-wear collection, with some striking sharp cut suits in her ready-to-wear collection.
