A neat little turn up is good and the word is keep rips and frays to a minium – keeping them simple is best. Wear black opaques under them if it’s goosebump weather!! Great Things to Do in April No.3 – Plan a Trip to the Races With Coast

Category : Accessories, bags, Latest, Spring, Summer, Trends, Women

Well, here come some of the most colourful, fashionable and glamorous events on the sporting calendar. A chance to dress up, wear hats, accessorise to your heart’s content – oh and maybe watch a little horse racing and have a little flutter into the bargain.  As we know, Ladies’ days at the races are all about winning – in the outfit stakes that is!

This year Coast offers us loads of wonderful inspiration in the shape of beautifully crafted dresses in all the seasons major trends, monochromes, neutrals, florals, colour blocks and brights. They have the headwear, the jewellery, the bags and the cover-ups – (they’ve even put together a racing calendar for us so we don’t miss a trick)  all that’s left for us to do is mix and match the perfect outfit.

If you’re at Royal Ascot this year, beware, the dress code is much stricter. Hats or a substantial fascinator must be worn. If you’re wearing a strapless or thin strap dress you’ll need a little cover up – as bare shoulders are a no-no, as are very short skirts.  Other race meets my be a bit more free and easy, but generally the challenge is to plan an outfit that’s elegant, and shall we say ‘ladylike,’ but also that’s fun and not boring. We can do that! Click each image for more product details.

We’re under starters orders with these  effortlessly stylish monochromes  shown above- there are loads more to choose from at the site. The great thing about the Duchess dress is it’s part of the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Campaign – a £40 donation will go to the charity.

And we’re off, combining neutrals, colour block and body con trends with these gorgeous tone on tone pieces.

We’ll come back with a follow up post and take a look at ideas around florals and brights – we’ll maybe get a maxi dress in there too. Just to let you know, Coast have free delivery available from now until midnight on April 11th.  In the meantime visit the site and play around with some emsembles of your own – hmm I think we feel a competition coming on..

Trend spot s/s10 the soft jersey maxi dress

Category : Accessories, bags, Celebrity, Shoes, Spring, Summer, Trends, Women

On our w eb travels yesterday, we discovered the jersey, maxi dress being touted as a must have item for spring/summer 10. Asos have listed it in their ‘if you buy only 5 things’ list. This is not the floaty, colourful, hippychick style maxi we know and love – it’s clingier and comes in mostly in grungier shades of grey and black. The look is simple and summery, mostly accessorised with a pair of gladiators and a bangle.

We have to agree this seens to be a clever and versatile little number, especially when it comes to holiday packing. If you’re feeling self conscious about the clinginess, a denim shirt by day or long line blazer by night will take care of that.

We can see Miranda Kerr above trying the look with a cropped denim jacket and a with a blazer and Topshop have put together a 3 ways to wear the jersey maxi dress for us – make it boho with scarves and jewellery, make it sporty with a sweat top and back pack or make it cute with a little tie top and pendant. Topshops strappy, jersey, maxi is just £18, so it’s an inexpensive way to be on trend too! Click the images for more details.
